Description of the route: The morning will be filled with a lecture at the Junta Autónoma of Figueira da Foz port on the activities carried out in the port and the issues related to silting, including a quick visit of the port and the north jetty. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will go to Gala, Lavos and Leirosa for on-site observation of the lack of sediments (mostly retained on Figueira da Foz beach), and the consequent erosive problems.

 

The Coimbra - Figueira da Foz – Leirosa route will be made by bus, departing in the morning and returning mid-afternoon.
