Knowing the scientific challenges and the current environmental and societal benchmarks, MIA 2018 seeks to consolidate knowledge from previous symposium editions. Specific goals are:

To develop knowledge on the impacts of occupation and anthropogenic activities on continental, transitional and marine ecosystems.

To improve the knowledge on access, exploitation and conservation of living and geological resources.

To develop knowledge of coastal processes and human impacts, in favour of sustainable management and safer communities.

To promote initiatives and actions that encourage the cooperation and scientific exchange between entities that, directly or indirectly, intervene or perform activities in this space.

To promote synergies between the technical and scientific communities of both Iberian countries.
